| Central Park The park is 2.4 miles long by almost half a mile wide. The entire park is surrounded by high stone walls, but open gates punctuate the walls every few blocks. The park is closed to vehicles. Though photos sometimes make the park look like dense forest, the terrain is rather varied and rugged. However all of it is quite beautiful. The southern part of the park, bordering the ritziest areas of Manhattan, is by far the most visited section. But above the Receiving Reservoir, around 86th Street, the adjacent neighborhoods grow rougher. Central Park's terrain here has been left almost untouched. However the crime rate here makes that section of the park particularly dangerous. Central Park is a refuge of wilderness surrounded by the madness of civilization-a source of life and energy in the midst of a prison of rigid order and conformity. Any one who walks into Central Park enters a slightly different reality: vibrant, living, and energetic, but also violent, unpredictable and grim. The world of the humans is left behind. The world of the Garou lies ahead. Watch your step. For a map of Central park click here | ![]() |
