Lake Placid This small but vibrant town is strange mix of small town American combined with the modern trappings of a tourist hotspot. The most remarkable features of the town are the beautiful Adirondack landscape of forests and mountains, and of course the fantastic lake Placid itself, for which the town is named. All manners of commerce can be found within the town, from hotels and restaurants, to clothing stores and nick-nack shops. Lake Placid
has a little bit of everything and is considered by many to be the gem of upstate New York. A good 4 hour drive from NYC the town is an example of how to design a town without giving in to the suburban sprawl mentality. Although during the height of the Summer and Winter months it does get quite busy with tourists one never finds themselves in a traffic jam or choking on smog. | |
